Are you currently guilded? If so, with whom? I'm currently with Warpath on Eldre'Thalas. My fiancé and I transferred there from another server, Khadgar, where we were formerly Alliance, in order to experience the game from a new perspective.
Why are you looking to leave? The guild misrepresented itself on the recruitment forums, which is sad since there are a few good people around. Essentially, they don't raid unless they feel they have the proper group makeup to tackle progression fights (currently H PP), and they simply don't have the numbers to get that proper group together. Any given night, there are no more than 20 members online, even with "initiates" like us hanging around willing to do anything that pops up. The server itself is fairly small, so they're not entirely to blame - but it's very, very frustrating when we really wanted to learn and have a great time. People are even reluctant to run heroic 10s or "breeze through" the first 9 heroic 25-man bosses.
What other guilds have you been in?

1: Council of Elders - Khadgar [A]; not very progression-based, but a large group of good people who balanced mid-level raiding with a family atmosphere. Left due to a major change in leadership and atmosphere as well as a desire to see more end-game content. I was a class leader there and was getting pretty frustrated.

2: Sauce (Khadgar [A]) - end-game raiding. Unfortunately my computer at the time couldn't handle the then-new content in Ulduar very well, so I took a break.

3: Apatheia (Khadgar [A]) - also end-game, a good friend convinced me to app there after I got a new machine. Recently they started really slowing up due to a lot of infighting and drama, and we (Ronin and I) decided to head off in search of new experiences and greener pastures. We went Horde.

Also a few random friends' guilds as holding places.
Why do you want to join Surreality? This place looks pretty perfect. You're just above our level of progression, so we can learn and grow with you; you're adults; you seem to have a great attitude; your raid times are excellent; and you're actually interested in being online to play. :)
What do you have to offer the guild? What are your expectations for us? I'm attentive, prepared, a lot of fun, experienced, always willing to learn, and always ready for a good fight (meaning ready to sit back and listen and play hard). I also provide very yummy biscuits without being asked. I'm a tailor/enchanter and always happy to work for free when able, and try to bring other consumables to share as well. Basically a good person to have around (I think). ;) I actually sheep and decurse automatically unless the fight requires me not to, which I know some mages don't. I have an alt ICC-10 geared holy pally who is happy to fill out 10mans or any random groups, and she cuts free gems! I cook, I clean... lol. I like to make myself valuable without being overzealous or annoying. Sometimes, I even help organize silly events like fashion shows, fishing tourneys or gnome races. I also love to heal, so, the pally is a nice little bonus.

What is your current talent distribution? How, or why, did you choose it? (Explain dubious talent choices. An acceptable answer to this question is not "because I was told to by a guild member in "x." Just like High School Math, show your work.) Arcane 57/3/11 -- offspec Fire 18/53/0. I chose Arcane a while back for its burst, simply put. I used it in BC, first as Arc/Fire and then Arc/Frost, and really came to appreciate some of the talents it offered (more so in WOTLK). I enjoy the tree. I ended up tweaking my spec to take Slow when we were having trouble in our old guild downing LK; my GM suggested I might use it on Valkyrs, but it didn't do much. I'm always playing with it to try to get it "right," and presently I'm going back and forth playing my Arc and my Fire specs trying to determine which of them are better for any particular encounter. Fire is turning out to be fun, but it's a learning curve.
What is your preferred raid role? If this role isn't available, are you willing to respec? I do anything I'm asked - sometimes higher DPS isn't the goal. Management of CC and curses is just as important (I remember the days of assigning sheep targets lol, or yelling at my mages to install Decursive). Obviously it's not as big an issue in ICC unless there are MCs involved, so obviously, my role is damage.
If you're applying as a DPS class, can you explain the basics of your rotation/priority system, and why you use it? Generally start with Mirrors if able, hit my trinket(s) and CDs and cast AB until I have a 4 stack, then use MB when it procs. I use Barrage when moving or Fire Blast, and I use Flamestrike/Blizzard for AOE. As Fire it's totally dependent upon procs, so I use Combustion with Fireballs and wait for LB to tick down and/or Hot Streak to proc, and after a lot of reading and testing, I've decided that 3 ranks of Flamestrike is better for me than FS + Blizz in that spec.

No one has their ideal gear, and getting that gear we want is part of the reason for raiding. Can you point out any problems you see in your own gearing at the moment, and explain your plans to address those issues? Right now, I'm overcapped on hit for Arcane, but that's due to not having any replacement items - lol. My priorities are sp, crit, haste. This changes with gear and/or spec as appropriate - I obviously need more hit as Fire, but can drop 3% for having a boomkin around, etc. I'd love to get one of the haste trinkets in order to replace my hit trinket, or, if I stay with Fire spec, replace the mp5 trinket instead. I regem frequently in order to maximize what I can do; however, my options are limited since I'd like to keep my 4pc bonus.
Describe your previous raid experience. What is your favorite boss fight? Why? I've raided everything, but I didn't do Vanilla until after Vanilla was over. I started with KZ and moved up from there. I have to honestly say that my favorite raid boss was a Z'A boss, Hex Lord Malacrass (and not just because of the helm he dropped lol). It was fun and kept us on our toes! I had to keep resheeping, people had to be aware of where they were standing, kill order had to be paid attention to, etc. Come to think of it, all the Z'A bosses were fun and especially when we were working on the timers for those chests. They took a group of dedicated people who knew what they were doing and had fun doing it. I also loved magetanking for Krosh Firehand in Gruul's.
What add-ons do you use? What add-on can't you live without? Why? Can you include a screenshot of your raiding ui? I use: Bartender4, Chatter, PitBull, DBM, MageNuggets, PallyPower and VuhDo for the healadin, SexyMap, Quartz, Omen, Recount, Grid for the raidframes, Decursive. Also have AtlasLoot, WoWIM and BugGrabber. I game using an n52te, which I have bound to buttons which are visible on my Bartender bars - so that, to me, is indispensable. I would also twitch a little without Decursive, and I get snarly when Chatter isn't working. lol
How many times a week are you willing to raid? When are you available? I'm willing to raid up to 4 nights in 25 but would far prefer 3; I like the flexibility of having that extra night open for 10s or random fun stuff. I'm usually available all nights, with a few exceptions for Real Life.
How do you spend your time in-game outside of raid time? I run instances or BGs or random old raids with my fiancé, I chat with friends, I fish, or I craft. Lately I've been running the quests to get my Sunreaver rep up since all the quests reset on my faction change.
Tell us about a time you wiped your group or raid. Ooh! Ooh! Once, in Gruul's Lair, my cat (no joke) stepped on my keyboard. In fact, it walked across the numbers, to which "Blink" was bound (#5). We were standing in the entryway buffing up for Gruul himself, and lo and behold, this little mage went splat. Along with the raid.
Best. AFK. Ever. I had to step away because my cat--different cat than the blink, mind you--killed, actually killed, a squirrel which was hiding in my attic. Bloody afk, indeed.
Anything else? I just got my Master's, woot, and... the cake is a lie. Shhh. p.s. - if there was any question, Ronin and I come as a pair, so please consider whether there would be a place for both of us when looking at the apps. :)
